The Kanga ball programs provided through the joint and co-ordinated efforts of the British Columbia Cricket Association, the Brockton Point Cricket Club and Can Lanka Enterprises Inc. were an overwhelming success in terms of numbers of participants.

There is tremendous scope for expansion of the kanga ball programs into the South-East and the West side of Vancouver. The program was extremely well received in Kitsilano and an increased emphasis should be placed on introducing kanga ball or a facsimile to Kitsilano Community Centres in order that primary school children may make cricket part of their after school program of activities and graduate those community centre participants into an outdoor cricket program, Connaught Park, and a feeder system into the high school leagues. The same development model is recommended to be applied to South Vancouver and Memorial Park.

In terms of deficiencies in the program we were not able to make the transition from primary schools to community centres nor did we concentrate on directing kanga ball programming into primary schools and community centres clustered around cricket grounds in Vancouver or high schools in Burnaby and Vancouver participating in the high schools league. This aspect of kanga ball programming needs to be reviewed by all co-ordinators in all districts.

We employed Arif Dhalla, Brad Winterlik, Dan Hausil and Richard Benjamin as coaches during the year. We have a need for women coaches.

We look forward to continue to be of service to the British Columbia Cricket Association and to cricket in Vancouver and in Canada.

Yours truly,
C Van Twest
